When I was younger, I LOVED The Little Mermaid. It was my absolute favourite. Now I find it great, but not my favourite.
As I got older, I realised she was just a whipped teenager that also wanted to be free and rebellious and experience a new world she was fascinated with. She did something stupid for the sake of a guy she saw only the day before. She screwed up, even though she had the best of intentions. Because it's a Disney film, everything worked out for her in the end anyway.
